The Podium is an 8.75″ travel fully engineered spectacle of metal madness, I’m super amped to be riding a Knolly again this season. The Podium is considered to be a full on DH rig so perhaps not the most well rounded, but for full on Kootenay singletrack bombing this is the ‘One.’

Rilor Wilderness aims to offer the best to our clients in terms of trails, food, service. And we expect the best in our gear: www.knollybikes.com

We went on a quick little trip to Ahous Bay, near Tofino, BC. Took the opportunity for a relaxing beach camping session between jobs and before full trail building and riding season. Can’t wait to be committed full time to trails.

Eryn skinning a rabbit we caught.

Making the biggest fire possible is basically all I do when I hit the West Coast. We saw some grey whales blowing about 100m off the beach, and caught an epic sunset:

We caught weather that is not all that common for this time of year: hot, sunny, warm. I got a sunburn, of course.

We felt lucky to be there, with the whole beach all to ourselves. Now the fun is over and it’s all about building bike trails, ha ha.

Had to look long and far for cedar like this:

But we found it, 38′ across, minimal center rot.

Brought our slabber alaskan mill…………………………

And got six 8.5 foot, 38″ across by 4″ slabs out of our log.

What are we going to do with this wood? Is it even mountain bike related? Stay tuned……………..

It’s a small saw with lots of power for it’s weight I’ll be using for hard to access bits of singletrack that require a long hike in. I fancy myself a fairly fit guy but some of the hike-ins to get to my trails get really tough when I’m loaded down with pack, water, fuel, powersaw, rake, shovel, etc, etc.

Big Saw (Stihl 660) All Purpose Saw (Stihl 460) and little fella (Stihl 260)

<img class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-711" title="Tunnel Vision Trail. Guess it’s the new thing………

Happy trails!
