Why Choose Rilor Wilderness Mountain Biking?
Rilor Wilderness Mountain Biking is steeped in mountain bike guiding and trail building experience. The owner, Riley McIntosh learned from the best: Whistler Mountain Bike Park and Freeride Entertainment, producers of the New World Disorder Films. He has traveled the world as a bike park consultant. He and his staff are committed to the mountain bike lifestyle and have worked in the industry for years. Riley’s experience working at cat skiing resorts in the winter time has been a perfect way to learn the tourism industry. Lodge based mountain biking is a new idea and Rilor is the leader.
Where are you located?
Rilor Wilderness is located in the southeast corner of British Columbia, in the West Kootenay Region. The Lodge is on 10 waterfront acres on Slocan Lake, 1 hour northwest from Nelson, BC on Highway 6. The Lodge is situated at Enterprise Creek, between Slocan City and Silverton, BC.
How do I get to your Lodge?
You can drive right to our Lodge at Enterprise Creek. The nearest airport is Castlegar BC and can be reached via Calgary, Alta or Vancouver, BC. Many of our guests like to spend a day in Nelson prior to taking the 1 hour drive to our Lodge. Many of our guests arriving from the US fly into Spokane WA and rent a car and drive up. Pickup can be arranged from either the Castlegar Airport or the Hume Hotel in Nelson with notice.

How many rides do we do in a day?
Our ride schedule is loosely structured. It changes with weather conditions, group ability, and input from the group. Our goal is to do 2-3 rides each day. Our helicopter accessed rides can be mixed with a van shuttled ride before or afterwards. Our signature trail on the property, ‘Tunnel Vision,’ is also available to be ridden repeatedly, so if the group is keen we can ride it as many times as daylight allows, after dinner, for example.
How difficult are the trails?
The trails are of an intermediate level. Some sections may be more difficult, but you will be warned by your guide beforehand. The trails we ride are very diverse, but we try to offer our guests as consistent trail quality and difficulty as possible. We find that riding less difficult trails is actually more fun!
Do I need to be an expert rider?
You don’t need to be an expert rider, however our terrain and trails are not for the meek and inexperienced. If you ride on trails more than 2 times per week and have previously ridden a lift accessed bike park or trail marked as intermediate to advanced you will be fine. Our guides take it upon themselves to inform you of what to expect on each upcoming section of trail and to offer you coaching and instruction on the best way to negotiate challenging sections.
Do you have private rooms?
Our lodge is designed to be cozy and comfortable. We have a limited number of rooms but if you are planning on joining us with your significant other we can offer you a private room. Otherwise our rooms are double occupancy.
Can I rent a mountain bike?
We have a limited number of rental bikes available. Please contact us for more information.
What kind of certifications do your guides have?
Our guides are licensed in OFA Level 3 first aid, and also possess Mountain Bike Instructor tickets.
